Membership: The AMS PTO is open to parents and guardians of Auburn Middle School students as well as all AMS staff. There is no fee to join and the rewards are priceless. Objectives: To enhance the school experience for both students and staff by securing funds for educational materials, programs and events; to assist with communicating information to parents and guardians; to support the staff through simple acts of gratitude.
Volunteer Opportunities: We encourage every parent, guardian and teacher to take an active interest in the AMS PTO. We strongly believe that students achieve greater success when adults make the effort to get personally involved. While we do reserve the right to solicit PTO members for assistance, we prefer parents take the initiative in volunteering. Contact a PTO member if you are interested in working concessions at AMS sporting events, staffing the book fairs, special events, or if you are interested in providing refreshments for special events or teacher appreciation brunches...and remember, your ideas are always welcome at the monthly meetings.
- Scholastic Book Fairs (Fall/Winter/Spring): Age appropriate books, posters and trinkets We encourage parents to attend the book fairs. There is always a selection of reading material, resource books and cook books geared toward the adult reader. It is also a great opportunity to fill a teacher’s wish-list item, purchase a book for the school library or get that book your student forgot to bring money for.
- Shelor Growing the Future (yearlong): The Shelor Motor Mile gives away two cars each year. We sell raffle tickets at $1 each for chances on winning the car and AMS keeps all the raffle money to be used at our school. The first drawing is in October and the second in April.
- Auburn Eagles Spirit Wear will be on sale soon. Watch for a flier and order forms to come home in the next few weeks.
On-going “No Selling” Fundraisers
BOXTOP$ - The AMS PTO gets 10 cents for each BOXTOP$ collected. This is one of the easiest fundraisers for your school and students are rewarded for participating! The homeroom collecting the most during the competitions, which are held a couple of times during the school year, receives a special treat.
KROGER Community Rewards - Kroger has a new and easier way for AMS parents to earn money for our school by just shopping at Kroger. To enroll just go to www.kroger.com/communityrewards and register your Kroger Plus card to AMS (our school number is 84900). Every time you or anyone else in your household shops at Kroger with a Kroger Plus Card we will earn rewards money for our school.
What Is Fundraising Money Used For?
School budgets are tight and do not always allow for programs and supplies that are deemed less critical. The AMS PTO aims to provide the tools that help make AMS academically competitive. We also value the social experience of middle school and support events geared to promoting a positive learning and teaching environment.
